Bariloche is an alpine lake town in Argentine Patagonia, all snow-capped peaks, deep blue lakes, chocolate shops and ski slopes. Life is outdoorsy and seasonal: skiing and hot chocolate in winter, hiking, kayaking and trout fishing in summer. It's affordable by global standards and beautiful, but it's remote, the economy swings with tourism and inflation, and winters are long. Great for an outdoor-obsessed lifestyle if you don't need a big job market.
